TaeKwon-Do is an Olympic Sport and provides self defence, flexibility, and fitness. Classes typically include a warm up, stretching, sparring, grabs/releases, and destruction. Classes for adults and juniors in Dorking, Guildford, Surrey Hills and Woking.

TaeKwon-Do differs from other martial arts such as Karate, Aikido, Jiu-jitsu, Judo, Kung fu, Wing chun, Choi kwang do and others. We have classes for the elite and train with the England squad, and we have juniors and parents as well.

Surrey Taekwondo is a member of the world-wide group called the ITF (International Taekwon-Do Federation) and is affiliated locally in the UK with the British Taekwon-Do Federation, and we are members of ITF England which selects and coaches the England Taekwon-Do team.

Improve your fitness, flexibility, and confidence with TaeKwon-Do

The best of martial arts

TaeKwon-Do was founded by General Choi Hong Hi from Korea, and combines the best of Karate, Kung Fu, Kick Boxing, Jujitsu, Wang Chun, and other martial arts. TaeKwon-Do is undergoing a metamorphosis as it grows and changes and improves over time.

Fitness and technique

TaeKwon-Do includes fitness training, stretching, offensive and defensive techniques such as punching and kicking, semi-contact sparring and breaking of boards and bricks.

The world's favourite martial art

TaeKwon-Do is the world's most popular martial art and has schools located world wide so that once you've started, you will never have to start over again, even if you move away to another city or another country.

The tenets of TaeKwon-Do

The tenets of TaeKwon-Do are courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control and the indomitable spirit. Grand Master Rhee instructs us to be human weapons. However, we are also trained to have the characteristics to manage this powerful ability.
“I never thought martial arts would be something for me, but now I see it differently. Now when I’m on the street and someone starts giving me trouble, I feel a whole lot more confident.”
Hannah Taylor, 16 years old
“TaeKwon-Do is my favourite thing in the whole world. I can't wait to go every time, and I won these medals in a competition!
10 year old junior
